Testing it directly is risky and tiring, so this 1RM calculator estimates it from a set you have already done. It also works as a 1rm estimator for programming: once you know your max, you know what to load for every other rep range.

Epley: 1RM = w × (1 + r ÷ 30)
Brzycki: 1RM = w × 36 ÷ (37 − r)
Lombardi: 1RM = w × r0.10

Reading the %1RM table

Once your max is estimated, the percentage table shows the weight for each fraction of your 1RM and the rough number of reps it allows. Strength work typically lives at 85–100% (1–5 reps), hypertrophy around 67–80% (8–12 reps), and endurance below 67%.

Which formula is most accurate?

For low rep counts the three equations agree almost exactly, so the choice rarely matters. They start to diverge above about 10 reps, where fatigue and technique vary too much for any equation to be precise. That is why this tool caps reps at 12 and flags that 1–10 reps give the most trustworthy estimate. If you are unsure, the Average option gives a sensible middle figure.
